How can I make a tree swing anchored to an uneven branch swing straight?

I'm making a set of tree swings for my neighbor's boys, but the swings keep getting tangled. I understand the physics of uneven swings, but don't know how to fix this problem. I've heard that I can drill through the tree and thread the swing's rope through a pbc pipe fulcrum, but won't that a) hurt the neighbor's tree, and b) be too weak? let me know what you think.|||Bolting through the branch sounds like it will harm the tree.

Could do what is done for treehouses...in reverse.

If you cannot bridge over to another branch to create a level beam

Could try to protect the branch by putting a timber "pad" on top %26amp; a bevelled or blocked timber below for level.

Could make U bolts out of threaded rod %26amp; use plates to clamp them together ...strap iron?

Eyeblots fixed to the bottom timber for the swing ropes.

Just for chuckles , the contractor who built my porch told me I should

use uneven length chains to hang a porch swing from the pitched roof rafters.

Great if you want to swing in a semi circle.

Best regards|||just use different length ropes on each side of the swings to get the seat to sit level.
