How do I remove an old park swing from my yard?
We bought a house recently and it has a huge metal (steel?) industrial strength swing set frame in the back yard. Our yard and the neighbors' yard appear to be part of an old neighborhood park. The swing set is made of heavy duty piping and is approximately 12 feet long and 15 feet tall. The piping is approximately 4 inches in diameter. We've tried to cut it down with a sawz all and heavy duty blade - but that didn't even make a scratch. Any ideas of how to take this thing down?|||Use a disc grinder, available to buy at hardware stores, or rent on from Equipment - tool rental store. Wear eye protection. You may have to cut all the legs almost through and then push the swing over if the weight of the thing presses down on the cut and jams the grinding wheel. Your other option is a cutting torch but only if you know how to use one. A torch is tricky to get a proper flame adjustment and to know when melt can turn into a burn. The swing is probably set in concrete so cut the pipes as close to that as possible and the cover with soil or whatever you intend to put in that area.|||The pipes are probably set in concrete so that is going to be a big, expensive job to remove it. Turn it into "lawn art". Grow some vines like morning glories or silver lace on it. Or hang some baskets. Or fill the seat with pots of plants. Add some bird houses and feeders.
